Cardiovascular Exercise for Bodybuilders

While it may seem like body builders spend 100% of their workout regimen lifting weights, it’s simply not true. In fact, cardiovascular exercises are just as important as weight lifting in their daily workout regimen.

Body builders work very hard, when it comes to cardiovascular, weight and strength training. They have to be careful how much cardio they do, therefore they have to establish a balcardio exercise for body buildersance and make sure that they are doing the right amount of both. Their aim is to remain bulky, while staying trim and fat free, with a sufficient amount of muscle in order to continue to look ripped and somewhat defined.

To start, hydration needs to be made a top priority. Often times we think that if we’re not sweating, we’re not dehydrated, but the truth is that the body continuously needs water. Body builders, especially, always need to be drinking liquids, whether they’re working out or not. While doing their cardio, they’ll be losing a lot of fluids and will need to replenish them, and when not working out, they don’t want to run the risk of going back and forth between being hydrated and dehydrated, making them ill prepared to go back to working out.

As body builders are familiar with stretching before and after their strength training routines, they need to become just as familiar with it before, after and even during cardio. Stretching will help prevent pulling a muscle and any other unwanted injuries.

While strength training is done in a weight room almost all the time, cardio exercises can be done on the road or on a track. Both have their benefits and cautions and the body builder should weigh these considerably before choosing where to go for a run. Naturally, running on the road requires a little more focus as they have personal safety to constantly look out for, in addition to the cars and people that might endanger it. They need to always bring a license or form of identification, in case anything were to happen, and to remember the rules of the road; to stay on the sidewalk, look both ways before crossing, yield to the cars even if they’re supposed to yield to them, and always stay alert.

Lastly, body builders need to take the time to rest after their cardio work outs. Running especially is a very draining exercise. It uses up a lot of the body’s strength and energy, making recuperation time very necessary. It’s highly recommended not to cut rest time short. They need to enjoy it and embrace it; it’s just as important as every other part of their work out.

Body builders are certain to improve their results by adding regular cardio to their strength training routine. For regularity and effectiveness, they should try running with a friend or a coach. Anyone who can gauge their progress, offer them tips, and keep them motivated is a great asset to their workouts. Additionally, if they have any questions regarding their workout, they should seek professional help. Hiring or just talking to a personal trainer can significantly improve their workout and prevent any future setbacks or problems.
