Healthy Weight Loss- How To Start A Healthy Weight Loss Plan

by FitnessExpert on April 3, 2010

A healthy weight loss plan is all about changing your eating habits and lifestyle. Surprisingly a good number of obese people trying to lose weight are not serious enough to change their lifestyle habits for permanent good health. They are often more interested in getting quick results for some special occasion. In fact many quick weight loss plans become instant hit because of their instant results. However they are hardly effective in the long run.

The first and most important thing to remember while losing weight is to go for a plan that you can follow easily. You must commit to a plan and stick to it. As you find a suitable weight loss plan, you can make it a permanent lifestyle change so that you do not start gaining weight.

It is not a difficult task to choose a healthy weight loss diet plan if you are really serious about it. You need not compare yourself to the celebrities because your individual needs, body type and of course overall lifestyle is different from your role model. Following are some tip that will help you start your weight loss plan.

  • Do not believe commercials that make grandiose promise but fail to deliver results. As mentioned above try a diet plan you are most comfortable with. Set small and realistic goals and achieve them within a realistic timeframe. Do not think of losing 30 pounds in a month; focus on losing one or 2 pounds a week initially.
  • Upgrade your carbohydrate by switching to complex Carb diets. Try to eat whole grains instead of white bread. Complex carbs are rich in fiber content therefore you remain full for long.
  • Do not watch TV while eating. You do not realize that you start overeating if you watch TV during meals. Ideally you should stop eating before you are full. Normally your brain receives signals from your stomach a few minutes later. By that time you exceed your stomach’s capacity which is a major cause of weight gain.
  • Start drinking more plain water than carbonated and flavored drinks.
  • Taking exercise is one of the oldest and easiest ways to maintain your fitness. Once you have achieved your weight loss goals; you must make it a point to follow above mentioned habits to remain in shape.
