How To Lose Weight After Pregnancy

Pregnancy and child birth are some of the most pleasant experiences for any woman. However this pleasant experience comes with its own drawbacks and side effects. Weight gain is often the most visible sign of pregnancy. Unfortunately extra weight gained during pregnancy does not go away on its own after child birth. You must put in some extra efforts to get back in shape.

Losing weight is often a challenging task for many of us. However it is more challenging for a new mother because she needs to consume enough nutrients and calories to feed the baby. Cutting too much calorie intakes make result in nutrition loss for the mother as well as the baby.

Following are some tips to lose weight after Pregnancy

  • Balanced and Nutritious Diet Plan- As mentioned above, you cannot cut your calorie consumption beyond a certain limits therefore taking advice from your physician or dieticians is the best way to decide what to eat and what to avoid.  Cutting your fat intakes and increasing fiber intakes is the best way to eat a balanced diet.
  • No Fad Diets – Pregnancy itself if a very traumatic experience for your body. When you consume a fad diet, you are actually forcing your body to burn fat. Your body needs time to accept a fad diet. Let your body regain normal health before you try some fad diets.
  • Breastfeeding – It is nature’s way to help you get back in shape. Breastfeeding helps in releasing some hormones that are helpful in weight loss. Try to breastfeed your child for as long as you are comfortable with it.
  • Exercise – You cannot take heavy exercises after pregnancy but some non-strenuous exercises can be started while you are still in the hospital. Order some DVDs that can help you with non strenuous exercises. You can also take your child in a sling and go for a walk every day. Of course care should be taken that weather is not too harsh for the child.

When your child is a few months old, you can also consider joining a gym. Some Gyms have special packages that offer childcare as part of it. Go for these packages and start getting back in shape while taking care of your child.
