Teenagers are very conscious about their looks and appearance. Though it is quite natural due to rapid changes in the body, there are times when teenagers start becoming obese without any obvious reason. While hormonal changes play a role, bad eating habits and sedentary lifestyle are the main reasons behind teenage obesity. What adds to their woes is over- consciousness about their ugly appearance which sometimes leads to low self esteem.

More than 70 % for obese teenagers are not able to get back in shape in adulthood therefore it is better to start eating healthy as early as possible. Surprisingly losing weight during teenage is quite easy just by following some simple tips. They are often not guided properly and they get distracted easily by TV commercials and other advertisements.

Following are some easy and quick weight loss tips for teens.

  • Sweat It Out – Do not spend your evenings sitting in front of TV or PC. Play squash or badminton or any other outdoor game that requires running continuously. Nothing will be more effective in burning fat than playing a game that you enjoy. It might be difficult initially but it is easier to change habits in teenage than in adult life.
  • Squat on the Floor: This can be done while watching TV. Sitting cross legged on the floor helps you move muscles of hips, waist and abdomen. Sitting in this posture is quite common in eastern countries. It is one of the reasons of their better health. You will burn fat unknowingly while watching TV.
  • Drink More Water- This requires some efforts because most teenagers are habitual to soft drinks and colas. Try to change this habit. Of course you can drink colas once in a while but if you want to shed weight, you must try to drink water in place of colas.
  • Eat Negative Calorie Foods- Cabbage soup is one of the best negative calorie food. You will see some remarkable results if you start consuming cabbage soup daily.
  • Cut down on Fatty Foods- You must control your taste buds if you want to shed weight. Stay away from white bread, pasta, fatty and junk food. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables.
