Many people have spent thousands of dollars on anti-ageing creams, lotions, pills and a plethora of other products that claim to slow the ageing process. However there are some simple every day solutions you can incorporate into your lifestyle to keep yourself looking and feeling younger. You do not have to spend a fortune on surgery, pills and lotions and potions. If you choose to combat age to remain younger via surgery or other methods, that is your choice but you can look and feel younger through ways considered holistic and natural.
Diet
Diet plays a huge part in how well you age. Major research has shown that people who eat a diet that is high in fat age quicker than people who eat a diet high in fiber, protein and less fat. If you are trying to slow the ageing process, introduce plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables into your diet; in fact, try to buy organic fruits and vegetables, as they contain far more vitamins and minerals than their non-organic counterparts. You should consider eating plenty of green vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, and green beans. These contain plenty of iron that helps keep the blood healthy. When it comes to fruit try to eat as much as you can, such apples, grapes, strawberries, melon, pears and much more. You want to eat fruits that are rich in antioxidants to aid in detoxifying the body. Research has also shown that foods rich in antioxidants helps keep the skin healthy and vibrant.
Selenium
Foods rich in selenium are well known for reducing the risks of diseases such as prostate and lung cancer. Thus, these foods help the body stay healthy for longer. Anyone wishing to gain the benefits from selenium should also consider eating foods such as fresh fish and asparagus.
Vitamins A ,B and C
Vitamins A, B and C are very important, especially for people who are trying to slow down the ageing process. Vitamin A is full of antioxidants that are known for healing the skin and helping to keep it firm and free of blemishes; vitamin B is something that elderly people need to acquire in pill form. After a certain age, the elderly can no longer absorb vitamin B from their food. These vitamins work to help cleanse the blood, keeping the skin looking fresher and vibrant longer. Vitamin C is very important due to the fact that it helps to keep the immune system strong and healthy. When the immune system is strong and healthy, you will be less likely to contract illnesses, and at the same time, keep you feeling and looking younger for longer.
Vitamin D and Calcium
Calcium is vital in terms of keeping the bones and teeth healthy. The truth is, after a certain age adults no longer absorb calcium. Therefore, in order to keep the bones strong and healthy you must consume vitamin D. Vitamin D can be found in certain foods; for example, you can acquire it by eating certain fortified yoghurt. The main source, however, for Vitamin D is the sun. Therefore, everyone, especially those who are growing older, should try to soak up as much fresh air and sunshine as possible.
Drink Plenty of Water
Drinking plenty of water is something that has been touted for years as a way of keeping the skin fresh. Water helps to hydrate the body, cleanse the blood and detoxify the body. If you do nothing else, make sure you drink your recommended daily intake of eight large glasses of water a day.
Exercise
Exercise is important when trying to slow the ageing process. It has been proven that exercise makes you feel stronger and helps to keep joints supple. When you exercise, your body works harder to pump blood around the body. This allows more oxygen and blood flow to the muscles. Incorporating an exercise regimen such as walking will help to keep you looking younger for longer.
Walking
If you want to stay younger longer, try walking. Walk at least 30 minutes a day in the fresh air and you will start feeling fit, healthy, and ultimately younger.
Cycling
You can try cycling indoors on an exercise bike. You don’t have to go cycling along country trails. If you feel you cannot handle cycling outdoors, then try an indoor exercise bike to obtain the same level of success. Cycling is effective as it is relatively low impact. If you have stiff joints, cycling, as well as any other exercise routine, helps to alleviate the aches and pains that are associated with the ageing process.
There are many other forms of exercise you could consider trying such as swimming, yoga, Pilates and much more. You will notice that with the combination of healthy diet and exercise you will look and feel younger, fitter and healthier.
