“The Secret” To Shaping your Lower Body

We all know how much more difficult it is to opt for the stairs instead of taking the elevator or escalator. It does take longer and uses up a lot more energy, but it’s also the best exercise we can do to properly tone our lower bodies; specifically, our legs, thighs and butts.

To avoid trying to find an endless staircase to use in our daily workout routines, we turn to stair climbers. Stair climbing machines can be purchased and placed in your home or you can use them at the gym. They create a never ending staircase for you to climb and will only stop when you can’t physically go any further.lower body exercise

In each step on a stair climber you are strengthening the muscles in your lower body, making them a stronger support for your core.  The extra muscle strength will also help to increase your metabolism, causing your body to burn calories and fat faster. In addition to building muscle strength, remember this is a cardio focused machine as well. Keep track of your heart rate on the dials at the top of the machine and maintain a good, healthy pace throughout your workout.

If it seems more difficult than your usual elliptical or treadmill workout, that’s because it is. The stair climber will give you a better heart and lower body workout than any other cardio focused machine. Since it is at such a different level of difficulty, make sure you are in appropriate physical shape before attempting it. In other words, if you’re starting your cardio workouts from scratch, practice running and walking before you start climbing. Additionally, if at all in doubt of your physical state before climbing, consult a physical trainer or doctor.

As with most gym equipment, you can only expect to see positive results if you use it correctly. You don’t want to waste all of your energy and time only to find out you are not getting the most out of the benefits of the workout. Get the outcome you want by keeping your back straight and shoulders back, versus putting all of your body weight on the handlebars of the machine. Again, if you have any questions about how to use the machine, consult a physical trainer or gym attendant before using it.

If you’re ready to intensify your cardio workouts and build strong healthy muscles in your lower body, you should consider purchasing a stair climber for your home. Do your research before buying because there are a variety of prices and models to choose from. If you are training or think you’ll be using your stair climber for a long time, consider investing in a machine with a detailed exercise programming. This way you can keep tabs on your calories, heart rate, mileage, and more. Once you make your purchase, start climbing and enjoy. For the first few routines, while it might seem very intense, distract yourself with music, magazines or TV. Before you know it you’ll be strengthening your thighs and butt muscles and you’ll never look back.
