Weight Loss diets have been all the rage in the US for decades. With the addition of natural supplements and super foods, losing weight seems to have become a natural process. How true is this statement? While dieting work wonders initially, we must understand the fact that our body requires fuel to run itself. You cannot starve yourself for long. The more you try to starve yourself, the more weight you gain.
Dieting for Weight Loss
As mentioned above that dieting seems to be working well initially, it is hardly the best way to maintain your weight and figure for long. Our emotions play a major role in deciding what and how much we eat. Emotion control for changing our eating habits is a matter of will power which starts weakening over a period of time. We treat ourselves with rich foods as rewards on accomplishing something great. Similarly rich foods work wonders to distract us from emotional break ups. It goes without saying that we cannot remain insensitive to our emotions for long. This is what does not let our dieting program work for long.
Balanced Regular Meal Is Much Better Than Fad Diets
A healthy diet should consist of green and leafy vegetables, low fat dairy products, whole grains, lean meat and controlled amount of fat and sugar. Foods in original form are healthier than their processed counterparts. Apart from losing much of their nutritional value, processed foods contain a lot of sugar, fats and some preservatives which are not recommended for those who want to lose weight.
Portion Control
Another important fact about losing weight is to control your portion size. It is quite common for many restaurants to serve huge amount of mashed potatoes and French fries with a small amount of main meal. Surprisingly we eat the same amount of unhealthy and processed food at home as well. Huge portion sizes of our meals contribute a lot to our weight.
Exercise
Boosting metabolism is essential for weight loss and fitness. Though some fad diets claim to boost your metabolism, their effects do not last long. Taking exercise or keeping yourself active is the best way to keep your metabolism in perfect order. No fat diet works for long unless you start taking exercise regularly.
